Call for Abstracts

ProgramME · Call for abstracts

We invite contributions for the 2nd International Conference on Applied Quantum Methods in Computational Science and Engineering (AQMCSE 2026), to be held 14–17 September 2026 · Delft, The Netherlands.

Scope & character of AQMCSE

AQMCSE is not just another quantum conference. Building on the successful first edition in Aachen (2025), AQMCSE 2026 focuses on applied quantum methods that target real-world applications in the computational sciences and engineering.

Unlike events that emphasise only results and roadmaps, AQMCSE puts the journey into the spotlight: how results were achieved, which approaches were tried, what failed, and what can be learned from the process. We explicitly welcome:

  • Practical workflows and benchmarks on real or emulated hardware
  • Hybrid quantum–classical pipelines and integration into existing solvers
  • Negative results, scaling limitations and lessons learned
  • Cross-domain transfer of methods between different application fields

The conference targets applied work in areas such as computational fluid dynamics, structural analysis, optimisation, materials science, machine learning, cryptography and many more.

Important dates (2026)
  • Call for abstracts opens: 16 February 2026
  • Abstract submission deadline: 30 April 2026
  • Notification of acceptance: 31 May 2026
  • Early-bird registration deadline: 1 July 2026
  • Final registration deadline: 24 August 2026
  • Conference: 14–17 September 2026

At least one author of each accepted contribution must register for the conference by the final registration deadline.

Conference topics

AQMCSE 2026 welcomes contributions on applied quantum methods in (but not limited to) the following domains:

  • Quantum computing in computational mechanics
  • Quantum computing in computational fluid dynamics
  • Quantum computing in materials science
  • Quantum machine learning
  • Quantum computer vision
  • Quantum chemistry and condensed matter physics
  • Quantum computing in electrical grids and power flow
  • Quantum computing in signal processing and geophysics
  • Quantum computing in network applications and telecommunications
  • Quantum computing in space applications
  • Quantum computing in finance applications
  • Quantum computing in other emerging domains…
  • ...

Types of contributions

We invite abstracts for:

  • Oral presentations (contributed talks in parallel sessions)
  • Poster presentations (with short lightning pitches)

During submission, authors can indicate their preferred presentation type (oral/poster). The Scientific Committee will make the final assignment based on the overall programme balance.

Extended abstract format

Submissions for contributed talks must follow the template provided on the submission page. The peer-review process will evaluate the following criteria:

  • Problem description and relevance
  • Methodology
  • Practical demonstration
  • Application potential

Each category needs to be addressed by a dedicated paragraph consisting of 100-500 words. Submissions not following this extended abstract template will not be considered in the peer-review process.

Detailed templates and formatting instructions will be provided on the submission page. At least one author of each accepted contribution must attend the conference and present the work.

How to submit

All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the AQMCSE 2026 online submission system:

When submitting your abstract, please:

  • Choose one or more relevant conference topics
  • Indicate your preferred presentation type (oral or poster)
  • Provide complete author information and affiliations
  • Ensure the abstract is clear, concise and written in English

The submitting author will act as the corresponding author and will receive all communication regarding review outcomes and presentation details.

Review process

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the Scientific Committee or designated reviewers. Evaluation criteria include:

  • Relevance to the scope and topics of AQMCSE
  • Technical soundness and clarity of the contribution
  • Novelty and practical impact of the approach
  • Quality of the abstract (structure, language, completeness)

Authors will be notified of acceptance by 15 May 2026. Accepted contributions will be assigned to oral or poster sessions.
